WU-20 eliminated in first round CONCACAF WC Qualifiers
In June, after an intensive period of training and preperation the Curacao women U-20 selection travelled to Bermuda to participate in the CONCACAF WU-20 WC Qualifiers. The Qualifier Tournament was played from 19 till 24 of July.
Curacaoa played in Group B with Bermuda and Jamaica. Saint Lucia was also placed in Group B but regrettably retracted her participation, whicht left the remaining teams with only two matches to play.
Curacao's firrst match on July 19 against Bermuda saw the Curacao team play a strong match in the first half but Bermuda took a 1 - 0 lead in the 56th minute when Deshae Darrell found the back of the net, but Curacao would draw level when Kiara Snel scored from and angle in the 65th minute.
However the Bermuda team scored again in the 69th and the 81st minute. The dapper Curacao girls could not prevent Bermuda from scoring again in the 85th minute and even in injury time.
In the second match on July 21st Jamaica proved to be way too strong for the Curacao team. The match ended in a 10-0 advantage for Jamaica. On July 23rd Jamaica beat Bermuda 2-1 and qualified for the Final Round. In Group A HAiti qualified and in Group C the Dominican Republic. These four countries will lay in another tournament to decide which two team will participate in the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship.
The Curacao WU-20 selection consists of the following players: Kiara Angelino,Angelique Antonio, Shadé Desir, Shariëntely Francisca, Lishanty Guillermo, Taïsha Hansen, Lindsey Hart, Evy Huiskens, Rosheny Kastaneer, Yasmin Levens, Tayzien Marchena, Fresheny Michiel, Anaïse Piar, Lauryn Richardson, Diante Scheepers, Kiara Snel, Staygin Stephens and Riesmarly Tokaay.
The staff consists of Gesilene Roojer-Kerindongo as technical director, Tyronne Maria as assistant technical director, keeper trainer, massagist Gino Costina, Laicam and delegation leader Eric Fraay as representative for the Federation.
