US too strong for Curacao in Gold Cup
The national selection of Curacao reached the quarter finals of the Gold Cup 2019 after a draw against Jamaica in Los Angeles. The team moved on to Philladelphia for the quarter final against host USA.
The US team was sure eager to stay in the tournament. In front of a crowd of 26,233 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Weston McKennie broke the deadlock in the 25th minute, heading in from inside the six-yard box.
Gevaro Nepomuceno looked dangerous throughout the night for Curacao, forcing U.S. GK Zack Steffen into fine saves in both halves of the game. Curacao pressed with a purpose for most of the second 45, but couldn’t get the ball past Steffen. Leandro Bacuna forced Steffen into his best save of the night in the 84th minute .
